The Director of Distribution is a key member of the operational leadership team, driving performance of the distribution center. The Director of Distribution directs and implements operational strategy, business processes and systems for overall distribution operations including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management and transportation. Establishes and monitors performance targets for all distribution related functions ensuring alignment with Stonewall Kitchen objectives. Seeks continuous improvement opportunities, identifies inefficiencies, and develops optimization strategies. Ensures all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA DOT or other governmental agencies. Expected to be an energetic, hands-on, enthusiastic team builder who demonstrates sound leadership practices.

JOB SUMMARY
- Manage and continuously improve all aspects of transportation, warehousing, order fulfillment, and logistics for the company.
- Provide leadership through supervision, delegation, coaching and project oversight to direct reports and their staff, including performance appraisals and corrective action plans as needed.
- Communicate effectively and work cross-functionally with other departments including Planning, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, R&D, Retail Ops, Manufacturing, Human Resources and Merchandising to achieve objectives.
- Develop and execute strategies and action plans to optimize distribution, warehouse, inventory management and transportation functions for safety, quality, cost, and service level.
- Direct and develop strong working relationships with key suppliers and manage the supply base to improve quality, cost and delivery, and maintain awareness of key market trends and best practices.
- Manage the fleet for optimal transportation costs, carrier contract negotiations, order handling and shipment transportation network modeling, cargo and freight planning, transportation analysis, sales order analysis and execution and dashboard performance metrics, measured against KPI’s.
- Manage all PIT equipment, maintenance programs, training programs, and replacement schedules.
- Assist the COO in developing and executing operating and capital expenditure budgets.
- Determine and model distribution center staffing needs based on production volume and productivity expectations.
- Member of the Safety Council.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
- Follows all company safety procedures.
EXPECTATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in operations, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10 years of operations experience and a minimum of five years related experience with progressive managerial responsibilities.
- Experience with ERP and WMS systems required; above-average Excel skills preferred.
- Attention to detail, sense of urgency with foresight and expertise.
- Strong communication skills with ability to drive for results.
- Proven leadership and team building skills.
- Exceptional strategic thinking skills, sense of urgency, and organizational skills.
- Collaborative management style with clear expectations and strong accountability
- Understanding of logistics, transportation, and shipping procedures.
- Must be able to twist, bend, reach, squat and climb stairs.
