Job Description

Voted 2023 Manufacturer of the Year by Kentucky Association of Manufacturers for mid-sized companies! We’re seeking a manufacturing process engineer for a startup or facility expansion. Lead technical efforts as we expand into a new market. Work with vendors to select and install new equipment, develop efficient manufacturing processes, create training plans and maintenance schedules. Strongly-qualified candidates will have experience with working with customer requirements to ensure correct equipment and processes are selected and designed with safety and efficiency in mind.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Develop, improve and implement manufacturing processes. Improve the efficiencies of individual operations and the facility as a whole. Review product designs for compliance with good engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications. Coordinate activities connected with technical developments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.

  • Process implementation for new and existing products/tools.
  • Develop production processes that are capable, sustainable and repeatable.
  • Specify equipment required to achieve customer product needs.
  • Recommend spare parts to keep on hand in order to minimize equipment down time.
  • Communicate and manage equipment vendors from initiation to implementation & training.
  • Understand customer requirements and impacts on equipment & processes.
  • Help with Preventative Maintenance Management.
  • Update equipment database.
  • Maximize production rate of all processes on assigned lines and in assigned work centers.
  • Minimize scrap and waste for all processes on assigned lines and in assigned work centers.
  • Minimize set up times for all processes on assigned lines and in assigned work centers.
  • Maximize equipment up time through elimination/minimization of equipment and process interruptions to the schedule.
  • Assist Quality Assurance in qualifying gauges and other measuring devices to be used in or on production processes.
  • Troubleshoot interface for production problems and issues on assigned lines and in assigned work cells that cannot be addressed by production and maintenance.
  • Collect, manage and report strategic and tactical data for all assigned lines and work cells, as required by CI efforts, New Production Launch process, and Management directive.
  • Utilize in-house software to create feeder programs for all production processes in assigned lines and work cells.
  • Be directly involved with continuous improvement teams, which may include being facilitator of a team or group of teams. Continuously improve all processes on assigned lines and in assigned work cells.
  • May do industrial engineering work, including time studies.

Schedule: This exempt-level role will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs and will primarily be day-time hours but may occasionally work or travel nights or weekends as needed.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to drive or ride for extended trips. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The performance of the position requires exposure to typical office areas and manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts. Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machining. The employee is occasionally exposed to odors, airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the manufacturing area is usually loud. Domestic and international travel may be required. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • At least two years’ experience in manufacturing environment to include lean manufacturing and quality environments ISO, NADCAP, IATF or AS9100.
  • Experience with specification review with customers and business partners. Interpret and understand how customer requirements translate to equipment and process needs and is able to communicate those needs effectively to others in order to make changes and take action.
  • Proficient with computer software including Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project or similar, CAD 3-D modeling software or similar, and ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to work onsite with a reasonable commute to Jeffersonville, IN
  • Ability travel as needed to visit equipment vendors, suppliers, customers and other sites. Could be domestic and/or international travel. Must be able to drive or ride long distances.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • 5-10 years relevant experience in engineering/manufacturing engineering. This experience might include automotive/commercial vehicle industry; metals and metal forming processes such as welding, tube bending and/or roll forming.
  • Experience working with contractors and vendors for major equipment installations or plant expansions
