Position Overview:
As a Construction Start-Up Technician at Staxmatic, you will be instrumental in overseeing the initiation phase of our projects, ensuring smooth execution, adherence to budget, and superior quality results that surpass our clients' expectations. Your role entails crafting, refining, and fine-tuning mechanical systems to align with client requirements while upholding industry protocols and regulations. This position is structured into three levels based on experience, offering opportunities for growth within a dynamic, team-driven setting for entry-level, intermediate, and advanced professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in HVAC system design, installation, or maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or GED. Technical training in related field is preferred.
  • Must hold appropriate equipment certifications.
  • Clean background and able to pass a drug test.
  • Must comply with all safety processes and procedures.

  • High level of motivation and strong desire to learn
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be physically able to meet physical expectations for the job

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform startup of heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration equipment, as well as other products in accordance with company requirements and manufacture specifications
  • Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other systems to ensure they meet design specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Perform testing and calibration of equipment and systems to verify functionality and efficiency
  • Identify and troubleshoot any issues or discrepancies during the start-up phase, and collaborate with project managers and construction teams to resolve them promptly
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, test results, and any issues encountered during the start-up process
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project stakeholders to provide updates on start-up progress and address any concerns or questions they may have
  • Ensure that all work meets quality standards and adheres to relevant safety regulations and building codes
  • Install and program field controllers, wiring, sensors, thermostats, valves, actuators, and other HVAC control equipment
  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Travel to different project sites throughout the day
  • Complete all necessary Start Up documentation and reports
  • Assist other Start-up Technicians
  • Troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits
  • Handle multiple ongoing projects at a time, splitting time between projects to ensure work is meeting the completion schedule
  • Perform pre-start up walk with site superintendents to identify any issues that need to be addressed prior to the commencement of start up
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
