Singer Industrial is searching for a Safety Manager in Dallas, TX. Job Summary:

The Safety Manager will serve as a strategic leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs and initiatives across a multi-location industrial distribution business with over 100 sites. The Safety Manager will play a pivotal role in promoting a culture of safety, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Responsibilities:

Safety Program Development and Implementation:

  • Develop, implement, and continually improve comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures to minimize workplace hazards and prevent accidents/incidents.
  • Conduct regular safety assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with site managers and department heads to establish site-specific safety protocols and guidelines.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels of the organization, including new hire orientation, ongoing training, and specialized training for high-risk activities.
  • Ensure that employees receive adequate training and resources to perform their jobs safely and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability through effective communication and training initiatives.

Incident Management and Investigation:

  • Establish procedures for reporting and investigating workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses.
  • Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and contributing factors and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all safety-related incidents to regulatory agencies as required.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local safety regulations and industry standards relevant to industrial distribution operations.
  • Ensure that safety programs and practices comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external auditors conducting safety inspections or audits.

Safety Culture and Engagement:

  • Champion a culture of safety excellence by promoting employee engagement, participation, and ownership of safety initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain safety committees or teams at each site to facilitate communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement in safety performance.
  • Recognize and reward employees and teams for outstanding safety achievements and contributions.

Risk Management and Mitigation:

  • Identify and assess potential safety risks and hazards associated with operational activities, equipment, and facilities.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and controls to minimize the likelihood and severity of accidents and injuries.
  • Collaborate with other functional areas, such as operations, facilities, and maintenance, to address safety-related risks and concerns.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and report safety performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and prioritize safety initiatives and resource allocation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional certification in safety (e.g., Certified Safety Professional - CSP) is highly desirable.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety management, preferably in a multi-site industrial distribution or similar industry.
  • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards applicable to industrial workplaces.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety programs and initiatives that drive measurable improvements in safety performance.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to deliver engaging safety training and presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret safety data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage competing priorities, and drive projects to successful completion.
