Product Development Coordinator

Status: Full Time / Non-Exempt

Location: In Office (Arvada)

Hours: 32 Hours / Week

Reports To: CEO, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing

Wage: $24-$30/hour

Summary of Role

As a Product Development Coordinator you will work directly with Unique's leadership to help increase our portfolio of products by developing new products and improving the features of our existing lineup through sourcing, testing, and creativity. Every day you will be actively engaging our partners, suppliers, and chemists to understand new product offerings and to maximize the features and benefits being provided in our existing products. You will work closely with leadership from the Operations team to develop products that meet profitability requirements, are packaged correctly, and can fit into our wheelhouse of manufacturing, private label, or co-packing. You will also work closely with leadership from our Sales and Marketing team to understand the needs of our customers, existing holes in the marketplace, and to convey the features and benefits of new or improved products. This position requires a relentless pursuit of making THE BEST products in the marketplace and a mind that can't rest until the best option has been presented to the customer. It is your job to dive into the details and make sure every element of a new product is meticulously vetted and verified so we can provide excellence to our customers. Sourcing of raw materials and writing purchase orders will also be included in the duties of this role.

Successful Implementation Of This Role Requires

• Daily phone calls and emails to suppliers following up on samples, discussing and brainstorming new product opportunities to improve features and benefits.
• Consistent communication with Sales and Marketing teams to understand their product development needs.
• Consistent communication with Chief Executive Officer and Operations teams to make sure that products being developed are physically and financially viable.
• Ability to negotiate and drive down raw material costs for new ingredients and products to meet costing requirements.
• Submitting and tracking purchase orders through our ordering system.
• Being constantly on the lookout for new features and benefits in our formulations, packaging, and procurement systems.
• Ability to organize multiple product development projects at a single time using spreadsheets or project management software.
• Presentation of product development projects to Unique's Board of Directors when necessary.
• Working with Unique's test tanks and other research and development methods looking for odor reduction and waste breakdown using a variety of different products
• Maintaining detailed and indexed records of product testing results for future reference.
• Hands on testing of new ingredients, formulations, products, and hard goods.
• An attitude and commitment to solving our customer's problems through best-in-class products
• Development of liquid products and hard good products for the industries Unique serves.
• Ability to find production solutions that are not in-house for new products not in our current manufacturing wheelhouse.
• Managing and coordinating the logistics on new product launches with regular touch points in Sales and Marketing and Operations.
