Job Overview

 

Are you ready for a career in robotics and utility field services? Our Natural Gas Robotics Mechanical Technician operate and maintain a robotic system called CISBOT which performs critical repairs from within buried natural gas pipelines. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic outdoor utility construction site with interesting people and innovative robotic technology—while helping repair and prevent methane leaks to support a cleaner environment.

 

ULC provides training on our proprietary robotic system, as well as all components of the repair operation. Many of our field technicians came from diverse backgrounds such as automotive repair, plumbing, construction, HVAC and other industries. The ideal candidate has the ability to work as part of a team outside in a street/roadwork construction environment and is okay getting dirty. We will provide training on gas safety, field tasks, and our robotic technology to ensure you succeed in this position. If you have a background or interest in mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical troubleshooting then this makes you a perfect candidate for this job. What does a day in the life of a Natural Gas Robotics Mechanical Technician look like at ULC Technologies?

 

Our Field Technicians operate and maintain a robotic system called CISBOT which performs critical repairs from within buried natural gas pipelines. This unique opportunity allows you to work within a dynamic environment among some of the brightest minds in the field with an opportunity to grow in the role.

 

ULC provides training on our proprietary robotic system, as well as all components of the repair operation. We will also provide training on gas piping and systems as well as inspection and repair technology. If you have a strong interest in and comprehension of mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, then this makes you a perfect candidate for this job.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Attend in-person and in-field training to learn about our equipment and get qualified for a range of field tasks
  • Participate in daily site briefings and come to work prepared with full PPE
  • Learn and follow all protocols for site safety, set up, operation and breakdown; Become an expert in the use of our equipment and our procedures.
  • Help set up job sites and ensure safety by placing cones, barriers and wheel chocks; set up and calibrating gas detection equipment.
  • Aid in the set up and breakdown of our proprietary technology and equipment within the utility excavation and around the work site
  • Monitor and manage the work site throughout the day
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and provide routine maintenance on our vehicles
  • Monitor inventory of spare parts and perform daily system testing.
  • Continuously learn and train; Show a desire to learn and perform additional tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you must have the following:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a mandatory drug/alcohol test and background check, including random drug screens per DOT/PHMSA regulations

Other considerations:

  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Occasional weekend/night work
  • Hands-on mechanical, pneumatics, electronics, and troubleshooting experience a plus; training will be provided
  • Capacity to drive small utility trucks
  • Keen interest in technology and robotics
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and put safety first all the time

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors and in varied weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Use of various hand tools

Training Provided and Funded by ULC Technologies:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA10) certified
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified
  • Northeast Gas Association (NGA) training
  • Pipeline Robotics System/Operation Training
  • Gas Utility/Pipeline Training
  • Hands-on mechanical, pneumatics, electronics, and troubleshooting of our robotic system
  • Continuous training as company progresses

Pay/Benefits:

  • Starting pay $31.00/hr; ability to advance.
