Electric Motor & Contracting Company, Inc., founded in 1960, is one of the largest independently owned repair facilities for electrical rotating machinery, pumps, and switchgear in the US.  We are conveniently located in Hampton Roads, Virginia just miles from Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

We are currently seeking a large electric motor repair Project Manager.

Job Description:

  • Perform the project management of large electric motors, including reactor coolant pump motors at EMC, including the coordination of efforts with Production, Engineering, QC Personnel, and Vendors.  

This includes:

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents that meet customer specification and purchase order requirements.
  • Provide production management and floor supervisors with timely, detailed and accurate production plans to ensure customer specifications are met and schedules are maintained.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential issues, and devise contingency plans.
  • Ensure customer specifications are understood and incorporated appropriately within work instruction documents before work is started. 
  • Prepare incoming and final repair reports for nuclear projects.
  • Draft and submit budget proposals for recommended repairs. 
  • Prepare material requisitions and work with the Purchasing Department to ensure that materials ordered for nuclear project related activities are ordered and inspected in accordance with specified requirements. 
  • Oversee planning and estimating for nuclear project related activities and review technical and commercial specifications as necessary. 
  • Communicate, as required, with customers regarding project schedule, status, special requirements or problem resolution.
  • Assist in the development and approval of quality and technical procedures, as requested. 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to interact with all types of personalities at all levels
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Programs
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet
  • Be a team player and self-motivator
  • Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree strongly preferred
