Research Analyst - Office of Naval Research

This is an exciting opportunity at the Office of Naval Research! We are seeking an enterprising Research Analyst with a technical background (e.g., Biology, Bio-medicine, Biochemistry, Nano-biology, Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Human-Systems Integration/Human Factors, Neuroscience, Physiology, Exercise Science, Psychology, or Sociology) to provide technical support to the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This position requires a critical thinker who can extract meaning from complex data relationships, identify trends, opportunities, and solutions related to customer policy and program areas. Applicants must have a passion for their work, be innovative, and possess strong verbal and written communication and analytic skills. The ideal applicant will have demonstrated proficiency and understanding of processes associated with S&T programs and assist in the coordination of activities between program offices and S&T community. The applicant will perform some or all of the following duties:
- Provide or support responses to technical data calls, evaluations, development of technical documents and presentations, and follow-through reporting requirements to include program funding and transition of research to prototyping, field-testing, and acquisition.
- Support the development of technology roadmaps.
- Participate in S&T Working Groups and assist with the implementation of Technology Transition Agreements and development of Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) topics.
- Track relevant Fleet experimentation venues and coordinate efforts for ONR program officers.
- Schedule and support program technical and financial reviews, and key demonstrations or tests.
- Assist program officers track and assess cost, schedule, and performance metrics of S&T portfolio investments.
- Support the S&T processes, including spend plans, phasing, tracking, and topic coordination.
- Participate in academia outreach programs, which may include STEM events, career fairs, science fairs, and symposiums.
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited college/university in a technical area (e.g., Biology, Bio-medicine, Biochemistry, Nano-biology, Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Human-Systems Integration/Human Factors, Neuroscience, Physiology, Exercise Science, Psychology, or Sociology).
- Applicant must be a United States citizen and eligible to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (Secret).
- Experience attending Scientific & Engineering (S&E) meetings, forums.
- Experience participating in S&E discussions; analyzing and evaluating the S&E content of research proposals and assisting in drafting written responses to S&E-related inquiries.
- Experience with coordinating research collaborations with academia, federal government agencies, industry, or international organizations.
- Prior experience with the DoD/DoN acquisition processes and S&T support is desirable.
- Prior experience with Navy and/or Marine Corps related operational activities is desirable.
