Your Contributions to the Team:

GloryBee is seeking a "new bee" to join our fun and tight-knit Quality Assurance team. As a Quality Assurance (QA) Technician, you'll play a pivotal role in our food safety culture. By reviewing documentation, analyzing data, taste-testing ingredients, and reporting on findings, you'll help GloryBee meet various goals to improve customer experience and loyalty, ensure that our high-quality products meet required specifications, and reduce unnecessary costs or wasted efforts. Your effective communication skills will also help you to respond to defects, articulate facts, and collaborate with internal teams. This role is based out of our Production Facility located at 120 N. Seneca Road in Eugene, Oregon and the typical work week for this full-time hourly position, is Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, though some schedule flexibility is available. Typical job duties include:

  • Reviews documentation to ensure products meet company and customer expectations
  • Creates Certificates of Analysis (COA) based on tests, supply COA, customer needs and distributes accordingly
  • Prepares samples for lab and for customers, as needed
  • Reviews third-party lab reports or COA's
  • Ensures product is released from hold within the expected lead-time established; ensures any defective products are placed on the appropriate hold status so they are not released to be sold
  • Performs aseptic sampling of products and facilitates proper testing based on outlined specifications and priorities
  • Performs organoleptic (taste/sensory) testing on products and food ingredients for flavor, odor, and other physical characteristics (some of which contain nuts/allergens)
  • Collaborates with Production to evaluate product quality levels, emergent product quality needs, and internal Corrective-Preventive Action Request for non-conformances
  • Partners with Purchasing on product requirements, supplier pre-shipment testing, product qualifications, and product comparisons, and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) for non-conformances
  • Manages customer complaints related to product defects and help to identify the reason for a non-conformance; determines if corrective actions are sufficient
  • Conducts in-house quality testing of products
  • Evaluates and make recommendations for materials under deviation
  • Other additional duties and projects as assigned

What We Are Looking For:

  • At least one year of experience working in quality assurance or similar field, preferably within a food-related or agricultural setting; a Bachelor's degree in food science or related field may be accepted in lieu of work experience
  • Must be able to pass GMP, HACCP, and other Food Safety Training as arranged
  • High school diploma required
  • Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate or better skills in Excel (formatting, formulas, data analysis and validation, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to review and interpret lab results and reports
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must be able to taste-test a variety of food ingredients, including those with potential allergens, and provide input on color, taste, aroma and texture
