Job Description

About the Role: This role is responsible for leading our Stoughton Fabrication Team by forming solid relationships with each team member and ensuring that the production team is actively engaged in continuous improvement to meet daily production demands with consistent, high quality.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Making or approving decisions for department employees regarding employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary recommendations, transfers, and terminations.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement of fabrication processes.
  • Ensuring that the departments are adequately staffed with properly trained personnel.
  • Resolving personnel problems, particularly those of a more complex nature.
  • Motivating employees and maintaining a high level of morale.
  • Responsible for providing a safe and clean working environment.
  • Plan daily productivity in advance (all products made in Stoughton including DF2) and monitor fabrication activity to ensure daily output for each employee meets the plan.
  • Present ideas and plans for improvements supported by appropriate analysis.
  • Responsible for assessing the need for Overtime and approving this time.
  • Coordinate activities with other groups (Customer Service, Shipping and Receiving.).
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving the quality system.
  • Implement and monitor cost savings initiatives.
  • Implements innovative processes supporting Lean Manufacturing techniques and principles to
  • improve efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Identify recurring defects in our process and utilize lean techniques to eliminate these defects.
  • Identifies and reports needs and future opportunities to support budgeted sales volume, control
  • costs, and provide the desired service level.
  • Other related duties as directed by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for managing and leading the production team.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Must comprehend and understand how product is fabricated.
  • Familiarity with CAD systems preferred.
  • Must possess strong leadership and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to work on various projects as priorities change or directives are adjusted.
  • Problem solving skills required.
  • Ability to work within a team setting.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, accounting, management, logistics or any other related field. Five (5) years’ professional experience in production management.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization. Requires excellent grammar and spelling.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires a valid driver’s license.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment, such as a computer and keyboard, calculator, photocopier, telephone, cell phone, etc. Requires proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to climb stairs, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is that found in a “normal office environment; noise levels during visits to other locations in the building may be moderate and occasionally loud. Occasional travel may be necessary.
