Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Full Time Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal welfare, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Position: Veterinary Technician
Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians in routine examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures.
Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
Perform laboratory tests such as bloodwork, urinalysis, and fecal analysis.
Prepare patients for surgery, including pre-operative procedures and post-operative care.
Monitor patients under anesthesia and during recovery.
Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information in electronic health records systems.
Educate clients on pet care, medication administration, and treatment plans.
Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures.
Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures with care and compassion.
Assist with diagnostic imaging such as X-rays and ultrasounds.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites.
Help with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
Provide support and assistance to veterinary staff as needed.
Requirements:
Licensed in the state of Iowa
Certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician
Experience not required (will train a recent Graduate) Associate degree in Veterinary Technology.
Strong understanding of animal behavior, health, and anatomy.
Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Compassionate and gentle handling of animals.
Proficiency in basic computer skills and willingness to learn veterinary software systems.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes and species.
Commitment to continuing education and professional development in the field of veterinary medicine.
Responsible, punctual, respectful, detail oriented, team player, self-starter
Ability to arrive by 7:45 am
Ability to work 2 Saturdays a month
