Salary: $72,505.42/year + DOE

REPORTS TO: Recruitment Manager


WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday. 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m.  


COMPENSATION: $72,505.49/year + DOE, Exempt Position


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Recruiter/College Readiness Coordinator assists with the development and implementation of Iḷisaġvik College’s student-centered recruitment program for prospective and new students.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of Iḷisaġvik College’s student-centered recruitment program for prospective and new students.
  • Establish positive working relations with the State of Alaska and North Slope Borough School District to implement and execute local and statewide programs aimed at K-12 students that build interest for prospective students to seek higher education.
  • Visits middle schools and high schools; speaks to groups and individual students; meets with school counselors, administrators and/or other constituent groups to promote outreach activities and as tasked by the Recruitment Manager.
  • Support the K-14 initiative in partnership with the North Slope Borough School District; establish monthly communications and outreach with various schools and external partners.
  • Creates packages, monitors and distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs and ensures marketing materials are frequently disseminated.
  • Assist with student recruitment for dual enrollment, summer camp programming, and other K-12 programming to meet recruitment targets set by the institution.
  • Collaborate with internal divisions such as community outreach, marketing, and instruction to coordinate marketing strategies, including community workshops and related recruitment efforts; arranges visits and tours for prospective students and parents.
  • Coordinate and lead one or more parent and family information sessions and/or events each semester (fall and spring) to share information on College academic programs, admission process and financial aid.
  • Assist the dual enrollment advisor with advising, registration, and support of dual enrolled students.     
  • Provide pre-admission information to prospective students and generate registrations according to pre-assigned goals and desired major. 
  • Assist with the scholarship process, academic major selection and preparation, pre-enrollment procedures, and transcript evaluations for prospective students.
  • Implement student recruitment activities to expand the pool of prospective students. Utilizes database programing and software programs such as Empower for data collection, tracking and reporting on prospective students.
  • Assists in off-Slope recruitment, as requested.
  • Provides transportation and delivery assistance, as needed.
  • Complies with College policies, procedures and administrative directives, as well as state, federal, and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.                                                      
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must be willing to travel extensively, including travel in small aircraft with limited amenities in remote locations.
  • Excellent people skills, facilitating relationships, building rapport.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in database applications.
  • Demonstrated multimedia work experience, including computers, radio/television and social media platforms.
  • Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
  • Motivating, energetic, and confident interacting with college and public to include speaking and presenting to large and small groups.
  • Networking skills to interact with students, parents, and community members; maintaining positive external and internal relations.
  • Familiarity with education community, and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform with minimum supervision and display self-initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following areas: post-secondary educational systems, North Slope Borough [NSB] institutions and organizations; Iñupiat culture, language, values, and traditions.
  • Ability to interpret and represent North Slope community values, customs, and beliefs for the College.
  • Ability to interpret and represent College actions and western institutions to the North Slope community.
  • Ability to support Iḷisaġvik College’s mission.


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Required]:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education or related field.
  • 2 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • 3 years demonstrated experience with computer technology, word processing, PowerPoint, internet research, and technology.
  • 2 years familiarity with various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc.)


EDUCATION/CERTIFICATES/TRAINING [Preferred]:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Education or related field.
  • Three years of experience in recruitment and outreach.
  • Valid driver’s license.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Health Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College is self-insured and Meritain Health is the health insurance third party administrator. Iḷisaġvik College offers health insurance to our employees with a no cost premium, and $50/pay period for each additional dependent and a low cost annual deductible of $200 for employee only and $600 for family.

Life Insurance - Iḷisaġvik College offers Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment coverage through Guardian Life to employees at no cost to the employee in the amount of $100,000/per benefit.
