Credit Risk Analyst

JOB SUMMARY

Watercress Financial is as financial technology company headquartered in West Des Moines, looking to fill a consumer loan credit risk analysis position. This is a full-time position with 401k, PTO and health benefits. The salary and final title for this position can be adjusted for experienced and well qualified candidates. This position provides key analytics for consumer loan portfolio credit file analysis, rules engine and score models, lending data analysis, and loan portfolio performance analysis and strategy development. Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL is required.

The Watercress risk team is a small and experienced team with a wide range of technical skills in loan analytics, predictive modeling, system integration and automation. Candidates are not expected to hold all skills noted in this posting, as the existing team can train new hires in any gaps. Our goal is to bring on new team members looking to expand their knowledge and prove their skills. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as subject matter expert for credit analysis and credit rules automation by interacting with IT, data and business intelligence teams
• Develop and maintain reporting, automation and dashboards for the consumer loan portfolio
• Support risk forecasting through loss and prepayment models
• Support credit policy with standard and ad-hoc reporting and monitoring
• Support to create credit policy and procedures for loan approval, origination and work out

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS

• Analytical coding experience with financial, actuarial, economic or behavioral data
• 4yr degree in a Finance, analytical STEM degrees, or equivalent education
• Expertise writing SQL for queries and data extraction
• Strong analytical acumen, understanding of distributions / sets and identifying and managing data impacts due to Bayesian / selection bias
• Experience with data mining, data engineering or data science approaches are useful
• Confident working independently, detailed oriented, meticulous in cross-checking results

VALUED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Experience with PC SAS, Python, R, and rules engine automation
• Microsoft Power stack (PowerBI, PowerQuery, PowerPivot, PowerAutomate)
• Useful domains: API, JSON, MS Excel, Visual Studio
• Experience with lending data system architecture or service business automation

WORK EXAMPLES / PENDING PROJECTS

• Work with Data and BI to deploy enhanced portfolio delinquency reporting dashboard
• Work with Data to structure an end-to-end data cube for ad-hoc and predictive analytics
• Work with IT to develop workflow for managing API automation between three systems
• Create risk monitoring dashboards to track population stability
• Develop and deploy custom scorecard solutions
