Job Description

Based in Phoenix, Arizona, the F&B Mfg LLC has been in the business of making parts and complex sheet metal assemblies for the aerospace, military, automotive, semi-conductor and commercial industries since 1923. Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for manufacturing engineering activities in the Sheet Metal Fabrication department which include developing and defining operational router sequencing, development of Station Plans (visual work aids), assist in operator training.
  • Support daily manufacturing activities and new product introduction (NPI) within the Sheet Metal, Punch Press and Deburr departments. This will include processing questions, QA holds, MRB resolution, tooling support and occasional training support.
  • Perform MRB activities including supporting root cause analysis, corrective actions, dispositions, rework operations and jobs.
  • Develop and maintain work instructions including transferring to electronic format.
  • Review customer contracts and interpret requirements.
  • Verify existing routers reflect current revision for new customer orders and/or identify impact of affected operations.
  • Estimates production times and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Requirements are entered into ERP system as a BOM.
  • Support compliance to customer’s special process requirements through testing and tracking of testing documentation.
  • Perform engineering release for all jobs to fulfill the next ten working days and for any job for which we have raw material on hand. Maintain zero day late on releasing jobs.
  • Support the development of manufacturing process by coordinating with production control, quality assurance, and manufacturing staff to develop jobs on shop floor.
  • Communicate with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Communicate with production control, tool design, manufacturing and quality assurance concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Communicate with vendors to convey product specifications and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Support quoting process as required.
  • Apply statistical methods to enhance and control future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Education and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Engineering from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Must have at least five years of hands-on experience, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with sheet metal fabrication via punch press, hydroforming, roll forming (Grotnes, Omera), and press brake forming.
  • Experienced in sheet metal assembly – riveting, welding, brazing, adhesives, etc.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal welding and vacuum heat treat is a plus.
  • Proficient in GD&T, blueprint interpretation and interpretation of work instructions.
  • Computer proficiency with MS office products (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook) and working knowledge of ERP systems.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to finer, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small delicate parts and hand held standard measuring equipment at the same time.
