Moog's Military Aircraft Group is in search of an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to join their team!
Reporting to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering or delegate, and embedded within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team, the individual will research, develop, test and implement a variety of Advanced Manufacturing technologies to improve or optimize current production needs or develop new products within the Military Aircraft Group.
The successful candidate will work under supervision of Senior Engineers on a team of project, mechanical, electrical, robotics, controls, and software engineers and collaborate and work projects across other engineering and operations teams.
This role offers a first shift, on-site schedule at our East Aurora NY location.
As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
  • Assist in identification, develop, test and implement appropriate Advanced Manufacturing technologies for application in Military Aircraft Group products and production processes.
  • Support continued manufacturing improvement activities involving Advanced Manufacturing technologies resulting in productivity optimization via throughput increase, product quality, or process variation reduction.
  • Collaborate with Senior Engineers and Project Management to plan, develop, and report out on Advanced Manufacturing projects from early to late stages of maturity to production implementation.
  • Interact and interface with Moog employees from other departments, disciplines, sites and divisions to understand business needs and opportunities for Advanced Manufacturing technologies.
  • Become intimately and fundamentally knowledgeable of Moog's products, designs, and customers' needs to identify and prioritize Advanced Manufacturing projects for the largest impact to organizational and operational goals and objectives.
  • Travel may be required as technologies and projects are being researched, developed, implemented, and tested.
  • Work effectively in a cross-functional matrix organization with other teams and sites.

To be considered for this role, here's what you will typically bring with you:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Software Engineering preferred.
  • Plus 3 years of relevant experience including projects in industrial automation and control systems, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Focused scholastic research or internships/co-op experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems, mechanical systems
  • Electronics, and electromechanical systems experience preferred
  • Conceptual understanding of computer programming and software development relating to manufacturing systems. Practical computer programming experience is a plus.
  • CAD software knowledge and experience. Siemens NX experience a plus.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible and cope with change. Moog is a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
  • Less than 10% travel

It would be great if you also had:
  • Knowledge of TRL (Technology Readiness Level) and MRL (Manufacturing Readiness Level) concepts frameworks.
  • Ignition, Fanuc, and Rockwell Automation experience is desired.
