We are looking for an Sr Principal AME Engineer to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Director, Advanced Manufacturing and will be based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Design and deploy automated manufacturing and assembly equipment.
  • Design and deploy automated and inline vision systems
  • Develop specifications, review designs, and manage suppliers for custom automation projects.
  • Program and integrate PLCs, robotics, motion systems, and machine vision solutions.
  • Ensure seamless equipment integration with MES and data systems.
  • Lead FAT/SAT, equipment validation, and production handover.
  • Drive process optimization and standardization across manufacturing lines.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with process and design teams to define equipment specifications.
  • Oversee the entire equipment development lifecycle, from concept to manufacturing.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and reporting.
  • Work with facility and maintenance engineers to install and support equipment in the factory.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • 20+ years' experience in equipment design and manufacturing automation.
  • Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming (Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and 3D design (SolidWorks or equivalent).
  • Experience with robotics, motion control, pneumatics, and machine vision systems.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30%.
  • Familiar with process engineering fundamentals (Cp, CpK, etc.)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in high-volume thin ceramics, solar, and battery manufacturing is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in thermal equipment/process development and high-volume manufacturing integration.
