Immediate opening for an energetic Optician/ Optical Sales Associate to assist patients in selecting glasses that will improve vision, enhance productivity and make learning fun again. The right candidate is an exceptional communicator who enjoys working with people of all ages. We are looking for an organized team-player who is excited to help our patients, can smoothly multi-task in a busy dotors' office environment and who is excited to grow new professional skills mentored by our ABO certified Office Manager. Experience in optical preferred. We are a 2.5-doctor, family-oriented, single location, private optometry practice. Our reputation is founded on providing our patients with excellent care using the best technology available in our industry. We see infants, active seniors and all ages in between. As part of our team, you will work side-by-side with the doctors and assist patients to fill the doctor's prescription in the optical dispensary. The right person will select frames and educate patients on what lens features and designs best fill the doctor's prescription for the patient's vision correction needs. You will process custom optical product orders, make and repair eyeglasses, maintain inventory and recommend new styles of eyeglasses - keeping our product selection fresh and up-to-date. Familiarity with electronic medical records, vision insurance, medical insurance, eyeglass lens design, lensometer use, lens edger operation and/or frame board management, is helpful. For the right person, training is available in all of these skills. We want someone who is interested in joining our work family, learning about our business and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. Responsibilities also include supporting your co-workers by answering the phone, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, answering patient questions, reviewing vision insurance benefits with patients who are making a purchase, filing insurance claims online and keeping up with all pertinent deadlines. Job duties will expand as your skills improve and the practice grows. Spanish-speaker very helpful.
A high school diploma and at least 2 years of work experience or undergraduate studies are required. Experience as an optician or optometric technician or training in at least one basic level program in an ophthalmic allied health field (ABO, JCAHPO, AAO, AOA Paraoptometric, ATPO, or NCLE) will get you an interview. Certified candidates strongly encouraged to apply. Starting salary $14-$18 per hour, depending on experience and education.
