POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Payroll
    • Prepare payroll on a weekly basis for all five (5) companies in an accurate and timely manner, in coordination with the Accounting/finance department.
    • Enter, update, audit and process weekly payrolls for both union and non-union entities, including prevailing wage, etc.
    • Make payroll adjustments as needed, including, but not limited to: increases, benefit deductions, child support, garnishments, union dues and fringes, direct deposit, Federal and State W-4s, bonuses, and adjustments from management.
    • Enter and track new hires, rehires and terminations within the payroll system as needed in a timely manner.
    • Provide final approval for all timecards from managers, adjusting time and entering any time off (both paid and unpaid) as needed.

  • Recruitment and Talent Management
    • Actively engages in a recruitment strategy to fill positions, including, but not limited to: posting ads in multiple mediums (including, but not limited to: online job site, printed, job boards, social media, specialized recruitment groups and/or sites), proactively sourcing job candidates from aforementioned and similar mediums, pre-screening job candidates, conducting interviews and coordinating interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
    • Partners with various temp agencies, job boards, employment advocacy groups within the community, and professional organizations to generate new employees leads.
    • Performs all onboarding processes for new hires, including, but not limited to: background screening, preliminary drug testing, motor vehicle records, employment verification, E-Verify citizenship and work eligibility status, pre-employment paperwork, entering new hire and rehire information into the payroll system, and scheduling orientations with the Safety Department.
    • Oversees employee referral program and awards successful referrals, using a scheduled payout system.
    • Proactively assesses and forecasts company's needs by examining seasonal trends, site requirements, and especially feedback from hiring managers.
    • Work with management to develop effective retention, employee satisfaction and culture building strategies.
    • Promote diversity within the current workforce and potential new employees to the workforce.

  • Employee and Labor Relations
    • Serve as a compassionate advocate for a diverse population of employees, providing advocacy regardless of the employee's position, age, race, gender, color, ethnicity, religion, ADA-status, military status, sexual orientation or other pertinent factors.
    • Maintain an open-door policy for employees to come to Human Resources with questions, concerns, compliments and complaints, actively listening to employees and providing them with any information and/or assistance necessary.
    • Maintaining the strictest confidentiality when it comes to personal, sensitive and other confidential information regarding the employees or The Company.
    • Serve as an advisor to management on Human Resources matters, including, but not limited to: making corrective action recommendations, answering policy/procedure questions, providing advice based on current and up-to-date Human Resources laws, overseeing and being present during conflict resolution meetings between employees, and providing training as needed.
    • Document and fully investigate all issues brought forward by employees, interviewing parties as needed, then presenting the findings, conclusions and recommendations to the appropriate level of management for further action.
    • Draft and write up corrective actions made by management on employees, being present during the disciplinary meeting as needed.
    • Partner with the Safety Department to administer and review all random drug screening results.
    • Consistently uphold all the policies and procedures outlined within the Employee Handbook, including answering policy questions, and reviewing/updating the Employee Handbook as needed.
    • Intercede on behalf of The Company and management by disputing any unemployment claims that arise.

  • Benefits Administration
    • Administers employee benefits programs, including, but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability, paid time off,
    • Reviews and submits paperwork for benefits enrollment to the third-party benefits administrator for new enrollments, qualifying event enrollment, and cancellation of benefits, tracking the employee's process changes throughout the process
    • Manages manual entries with benefits for all vendors in the group plan.
    • Assures compliance with COBRA guidelines, notifying the third-party benefits administrator for COBRA processing.
    • Conducts open enrollment informational sessions for the 401(k) program on a bi-annual basis, and for group benefits on an annual basis, collecting, processing and submitting all changes within the required timeline prior to the open enrollment deadline.
  • Other duties as assigned by Controller, CFO or upper management.


MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Talent Management, HRIS, Organizational Development, Customer Service Management or related field; and
  • Two (2) years of related work experience.
  • Strong computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized in a high volume, fast-paced, continuously changing work environment.
  • High skill level in effectively handling sensitive and confidential information/situations, with the demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Self-starting attitude with strong and effective time-management skills.
  • Excellent customer service focus and great team player with a "can do" attitude.
  • Understanding and experience with HRIS.
  • Experience with any of the forms of talent sourcing: internet sourcing, job boards, social media, community groups, and staffing agencies.
