Job DescriptionThe Design Technician is a product designer that is responsible for the timely and quality execution of assigned drafting, design, and development tasks to meet the Company’s short term and long-term goals. This individual will be responsible for participating in and assisting with medical device drafting and design from concept through full production launch and maintenance in accordance with the Company’s design quality system.
What you will be responsible for:
- Creation of drafting documents for assigned projects as required by applicable medical device standards and internal procedures.
- Review prints for the proper application of GD&T and dimensions based on company standards.
- Generate tolerance stacks to ensure proper function of mating components.
- Generating design history file deliverables for review and approval within an electronic Product Data Management system (SolidWorks PDM preferred)
- Use 3D CAD software for model / print generation and Product Data Management for print documentation (SolidWorks CAD and PDM preferred) for the creation of ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings and parametric models.
- Interact with remote and internal design and manufacturing resources to complete drawings, models, and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in a timely manner.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department processes and systems.
- Willingness to work directly with cadavers and in surgical situations.
- Complete design research and perform experiments to determine potential design options considering manufacturability and inspection.
- High School Diploma or GED with six (6) years of drafting experience or Associates in Drafting and Design with five (5) years of drafting experience is required. Mechanical drafting experience is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Medical device industry experience preferred.
- Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate in Mechanical Design (CSWA) certification preferred
