Hanley Foundation, a West Palm Beach-based non-profit organization with a mission of eliminating addiction through prevention, treatment, advocacy, and recovery support, seeks a Vocational Counselor to join our growing team at our state-of-the-art substance use/mental health treatment facility in sunny West Palm Beach, Florida. In this role, you will support our patients as they navigate career exploration, develop job-seeking skills, and prepare for re-entry into the workforce. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact during a critical time in their recovery journey.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual assessments to identify vocational interests, skills, and limitations.
  • Develop individualized vocational rehabilitation plans tailored to each patient's needs and goals.
  • Provide career counseling and guidance, including resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
  • Train in essential job skills, including computer literacy, customer service, sales techniques, and other workplace competencies.
  • Facilitate workshops and support groups focused on career development and job readiness.
  • Identify and develop cooperative employment relationships with employers in the area.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of labor market trends and career development resources.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong ability to manage group dynamics and facilitate productive discussions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor with a focus on empowering individuals.
  • Proficient in documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Career Counseling, or a related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in vocational counseling, preferably in a clinical or substance use setting.
  • If in recovery, one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required.
