Job Description

Position: We are looking for a Manager/Director of Engineering who is mission-aligned.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate has extensive software development experience, including work in regulated cloud environments (such as HIPAA or PCI compliance).
Values self-direction, empathy, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Role Overview:

You'll play a crucial role in the architecture, engineering, and development of data-producing/consuming software.
Collaborate closely with a small, distributed, dynamic Engineering Team

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development: Be hands-on and write code.
Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality software by maintaining well-designed, maintainable, and unit-tested code.
Web Applications: Support distributed web applications in a complex and evolving environment.
Managing the Development Lifecycle: Work across the entire application lifecycle, including design, architecture, building, testing and monitoring commercial software.

Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

Strong understanding of building software in regulated environments and security standards, including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST. Experience in healthcare applications preferred
BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience with Python.
Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL.
Experience working with restful APIs, micro-services, and the Atlassian toolset.

Management and Communication Skills:

Proficient in managing distributed development, including remote and offshore resources.
Experience with Agile development (JIRA experience is a plus).
An active problem solver with a "figure it out" mindset.
A clear, effective, and proactive communicator with both engineers and other stakeholders.
Extreme attention to detail.
