River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods and Garden Spot Foods, distributes a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY and New Holland, PA.

General Description/Purpose:

This 1st Shift Forklift Operator is responsible for efficiently and accurately handling route replenishment and receiving put-away. This individual will also be a resource to the Warehouse Supervisor for processing of customer orders being delivered by our drivers, assisting in the Production and Fulfillment areas of the operation. The incumbent is expected to work scheduled hours and help establish a team atmosphere, ensuring replenishment and orders are completed daily

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that enhances relationships with customers, co-workers, and managers.
• Behave in a manner that is consistent with our goal to maintain a safe environment and conditions.
• Demonstrate and support Garden Spot Foods’s vision, goals, and strategies.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Ensure replenishment is completed accurately with all changes clearly identified and
• forwarded to warehouse supervisor.
• Complete all receiving put-away’s and ensure paperwork accurately identifies correct company and bin locations.
• Accurately pull and stage product to complete daily route processing as needed.
• Accurately stage and identify pallets for truck delivery.
• Assist with UPS and LTL order processing. Orders must be accurately pulled and packed to assure product integrity based on transit times.
• Assist with replenishment in Fulfillment Area.
• Cycle Counts
• Other duties may be assigned as business needs require

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Regularly work scheduled hours
• Support team environment by verbal communication of understanding of work requirements.
• Requires stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. Requires crouching and reaching.
• Requires the ability to work in cold storage freezer with appropriate outerwear.
• Also requires pushing, pulling and exerting force with upper extremities.
• Fine motor movements of hands to pick, pinch and grasping in repetitive motions of wrists, hands and or fingers.
• Requires standing and walking for most of the day
• Positions self to move up to 70-pound boxes/bags of product
• Handles products to fill an order
• Identifies products requested on work orders by reading labels and moves to gather same.
• Maintains a clean work environment
• Using a power jack, a standup forklift, a sit-down forklift

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Food production line experience is preferred

Work Schedule:

Monday- Friday 6am-2:30pm
