Physician/Medical Doctor

The Morongo Basin Community Health Center is looking for a physician to see patients in our Federally Qualified Health Center. With a Healthcare Provider Shortage Area (HPSA) score of 19, our providers are eligible for loan forgiveness through Health Resource and Services Administration (HRSA). We are located 30 minutes outside of Palm Springs in the beautiful high desert of southern California. Our service area has Joshua Tree National Park in its center.

We are looking for a physician who has a desire to help people and cares about everyone having access to health care services that are of quality. We have a team of physicians and nurse practitioners that work every day to provide those services. Our desire is to have a physician leader of adult services that will provide oversight and guidance to the team, participate in quality team meetings.

Your responsibilities include providing primary health care services consistent with accepted medical practices, training, accreditation standards and the philosophy of Morongo Basin Healthcare District.
DUTIES
• Provide direct medical services to Community Health Center (CHC) patients. Scope of work includes preventative care, chronic illness and disease management, and other areas of family medicine
• Interdepartmental medical consultation as requested
• May be required to provide clinical supervision of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants as needed, after one year of service
• Serve as a liaison with the local medical community; Initiate appropriate specialty referrals
• Advise Management of any problems that can affect the efficiency of the Medical Department
• Record patient chart entries in Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan (SOAP) format
• Complete appropriate documentation necessary for Data and Billing Departments within 3 business days.
• Advise nursing staff of appropriate response to patient phone calls

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Licensed California Physician: Board Certified preferred
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience preferred
• BLS certification required
