SK pharmteco, Small Molecule, U.S. (SKPT SMUS) is a custom manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs, Drug Substances) and registered intermediates for customers in the pharmaceutical industry. Our integrated facilities located in California, Texas, and Virginia specialize in process development, scale-up, and cGMP compliant production from kilograms to multi-ton quantities.

We are looking for enthusiastic Process R&D Engineers to join our R&D Team! We have opportunities at our Rancho Cordova, CA (greater Sacramento area).

The Process R&D Engineer will work in collaboration with an R&D team to develop continuous processes for fine chemical manufacturing using a variety of unit operations. The candidate will set-up equipment to support the process development at lab scale. The Process R&D Engineer will be closely involved with transfer of the process to the commercial plant and will provide support to the commercial manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Survey and evaluate new technologies for the organic chemistry labs.
  • Improvement of existing technologies through process control.
  • Implementation of technologies for safer and more efficient operating conditions.
  • Development of modelling solutions for the scale-up and optimization of processes.
  • Interface with PR&D Scientists and Engineers to transfer processes from the lab to the plant.
  • Support commercial manufacturing.
  • Interface with customers.
  • Evaluate process layouts and generate equipment cost estimates.
  • Write procedures and batch records.

Education

  • BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering; PhD preferred

Experience

  • 2-4 years of industrial experience in Process R&D highly desired

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Organic Chemistry
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects
  • Knowledge of computer programming for equipment control and regulation (automation, PLC, and data acquisition)
  • Knowledge of chromatographic processes highly desired
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamic, mathematical modeling and process optimization
