SUMMARY: Responsible for leading a team of Maintenance Technicians offering guidance on changing over, setting, repairing, and improving performance on machine-driven production line and providing support for building improvement activities. This position will lead the maintenance team in implementing a maintenance and reliability strategy aimed at reducing breakdowns and extending manufacturing equipment life.

  • Overall responsibility for the progressive maintenance of the HCC facilities including providing strategic and tactical direction to the team members responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated food processing equipment, including advanced technology
  • Directs the efficient maintenance, improvement, installation, and safe operation of food processing equipment in compliance with company, state and federal policies, procedures and regulations including OSHA, FDA, EPA, GMP, and other code and regulatory agencies
  • Explains and enforces policies pertaining to safety, quality, and workplace conduct and ensures that all technicians adhere to all regulations and policies
  • Collaborates with Director of Operations and Maintenance Support in developing, monitoring, maintaining, and evaluating the preventative maintenance program covering all machinery, parts, tools, and facilities
  • Supervises the completion of work through inspections and establish a criterion to assess the quality of work performed by maintenance or contractors
  • Investigates the condition of buildings, equipment and grounds and recommends improvements in the facilities to ensure that needs are met; drive root analysis and ensure action plans are developed to correct failures
  • Provides direction to the maintenance support regarding the functions of inventory management, planning, prioritizing and scheduling work orders to maintenance staff
  • Evaluates each worker’s performance, identifies areas of opportunity, and gives performance feedback; sets expectations, monitors delegated activities and balances workload based on individual skill and trade specialty
  • Observes the work area to ensure that known hazards are reported and corrected and that all safety reporting and accident investigations are handled in a timely manner
  • Leads installation and handling/maneuvering of large equipment components
  • Monitors maintenance shop cleanliness, proper storage of chemicals, supplies, and equipment
  • Supports and maintains close coordination with production department in all aspects including tracking equipment downtimes, safety, new installations, projects, and processes
  • Collaborates with Director of Operations in developing annual and long-range maintenance, repair, equipment overhaul plan and capital expenditure plans
  • In coordination with HR, resolves employee relations matters and grievances filed by employees and administers corrective action as necessary


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • Represents the company brand image and shares aloha to all customers, business partners, and co-workers at all levels throughout the company
  • 5 years + maintenance lead or supervisor experience, preferably in a food facility setting
  • Strong Mechanical and Electrical competency; ability to understand mechanical handbooks and manuals
  • Have working knowledge of AC/DC circuits and PLC’s
  • Self-motivated and able to lead others. High level verbal communication abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work within cross-functional teams
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Hands-on supervisor with the ability to execute all positions within the maintenance department
  • Considerable knowledge of project planning and management
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Possesses basic mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the scheduled work shift and use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel, carry, and reach
  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, bending, stooping, and squatting and some repetitive motions
  • Able to sit, stand and walk throughout an 8 to 10-hour shift. Able to stand for long periods
  • Able to routinely lift and maneuver at least 40 lbs., and occasionally lift and maneuver up to 60 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision 20 inches or less, (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers. Distance vision of 20 feet or more (not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Peripheral vision observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point
  • Specific hearing abilities include the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., forklifts, packaging, machinery alarms), medical codes or alarms and communication purposes
  • Wear protective gear (uniform), including gloves, face/eye shields, aprons, hearing protection, hairnets, beard nets, etc.
  • Inside and outside areas of a typical industrial facility, which includes working with and around large machinery, outside grounds, variations in temperature, sounds (decibels), odors, humidity, dust and elevations. Some areas are often hot with steam from oven and vapor
  • Able to work flexible hours and overtime as required, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. Expect after hour calls to resolve mechanical and downtime issues
  • Travel required
