Oracle OCI Engineer & DBA

Job Overview

TRAX USA Corp, a leading aviation software company, is seeking an experienced OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) engineer and Oracle DBA (Database Administrator) to join our dynamic team at a leading aviation software company. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing our production systems comprised of Oracle cloud infrastructure components and databases to ensure high performance, availability, and security. This role demands a deep understanding of Oracle database management, query tuning, replication, data migration processes, and experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Database (ADB).

Key Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure and Autonomous Database Management: Leverage expertise in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Database (ADB) to enhance database performance, scalability, and security in the cloud.
• Database Management: Work with a small team of Oracle DBAs to administer production Oracle databases to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security through entire lifecycle from installation to ongoing maintenance like applying patches and updates to fortify software against vulnerabilities.
• Performance Tuning: Identify and resolve database performance issues by tuning complex Oracle queries and processes. Implement best practices for database optimization, including indexing, query optimization, and SQL tuning.
• Monitoring and Alerting: Develop and implement comprehensive and continuous monitoring and alerting systems to proactively detect and address database issues. Ensure timely resolution of database outages and performance issues.
• Replication and Data Migration: Manage, configure, regularly test and maintain database backup processes securely to support data availability and disaster recovery effort. Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades and recoveries.
• Security and Compliance: Enforce database security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Support compliance with security protocols and vulnerability assessments.
• Collaboration and Support: Work closely with software developers, system administrators, and project managers to optimize performance, support development, and support deployment of new applications. Provide expert advice and technical support for database-related issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field is preferred or significant work equivalent work experience.
• At least 3 years of experience with systems operating in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Technologies may include Oracle Database, Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, and Autonomous Database (ADB), Compute services, etc.
• At least 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with a strong background in managing production databases in a high-availability environment.
• Proven track record of tuning complex Oracle queries and processes for performance improvements.
• Experience with database monitoring tools, replication technologies, and data migration strategies.
• Strong understanding of database security practices and compliance regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Aviation industry experience is a bonus.
