Job Summary:
Saxon Global is a Fortune 500 Client Servicing Company. They are seeking an Oracle Support Engineer to assist with the maintenance and patching of Oracle databases, ensuring minimal disruption to production environments.
Responsibilities:
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager to patch and upgrade databases
• Understand the patching process
• Help improve patching process
• Automate the patching process, if possible, to ease the burden moving forward
• Patch and update around 100 database
• Schedule downtime to minimize impact
• Knowledge transfer
• Identify and implement appropriate maintenance for our Oracle databases
• Assist the DBA team with automating as much of the patching process as possible based on currently available tools
• Work with application support groups to schedule patch implementation in such a way as to minimize disruption to production
• Knowledge transfer to the DBA team concerning Oracle patching process
Qualifications:
Required:
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager to patch and upgrade databases
• Understand the patching process
• Help improve patching process
• Automate the patching process, if possible, to ease the burden moving forward
• Patch and update around 100 database
• Schedule downtime to minimize impact
• Knowledge transfer
• 10 years Oracle support experience in a primary support role
• Extensive experience applying Oracle maintenance and CPUs
• Experience making maximum use of OEM (Cloud Control) features that assist with the patching process
• Experience dealing with the demands of a critical production workload and minimizing the impact of Oracle database maintenance on it
• Experience with patch automation
