Base Pay: $284,903.00 - $370,046.00 / yearJOB SUMMARY

Provide quality outpatient Obstetrical care in a compassionate and caring environment. Work as an integral part of the Medical staff by participating in all strategic initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to afterhours telephone call, weekend clinics, supervision of PA/NP staff and inpatient obstetrical care if applicable. No inpatient patient care or delivery services are required for this position.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Take appropriate history, perform physical examination of patients, order pertinent diagnostics and implement appropriate therapy according to standard obstetrical medical practice.  Focus is on pre-natal and post-natal care.
  • Document clinical activities effectively and efficiently using electronic medical records.
  • Obtain appropriate consults and coordinate care (Perinatologist, Psychiatrist, Certified Lactation Consultant, or the Sweet Success Program) when problems or diagnosis presented are outside scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the patient’s care.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient throughout the physician patient relationship, provide appropriate patient education, and demonstrate respect for the culturally determined needs of patients.
  • Displays consistent clinical competence , meeting or exceeding the community standard of care in obstetrics and primary care
  • Effectively coordinate the outpatient care of obstetrical patients with Laborists working at delivery hospital.
  • Demonstrate and maintain competent knowledge in delivering health care to patients through peer review as established by policy, recommendations of each licensing Board, and clinic Quality improvement Program. Complies with other facility regulations if providing inpatient care and represents SCHC in other facilities in a professional manner at all times.
  • Supervise PA’s, FNP’s, Nurse Midwifes, Residents and Students according to the standardized procedures agreed upon which defines their scope of practice while complying with all federal and state regulations and codes.
  • Supports and contributes  in a positive manner to clinic efforts to maintain and improve patient satisfaction in all aspects of health delivery.
  • Works at maximum potential to meet productivity requirements in order to improve fiscal viability while maintaining quality medical care.
  • Meets all time commitments by arriving on time to the clinic and working entire shift or more as needed.
  • Become an integral part of the Medical staff through participation in medical staff and other clinic meetings.
  • Comply with Title 22 regulations regarding health care and infectious disease.
  • Performs other duties within the scope of practice as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of a nationally accredited Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program.
  • Board Certified OB/GYN
  • California license upon hire and maintain current without any limitations on license to practice in area of specialty.
  • Must be in good standing with the California State Licensing Board.
  • BLS certification upon hire and maintain current.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous outpatient clinic experience working with indigent population preferred.
  • ACLS certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • NRP certification.
