Costing Engineer - DIRECT HIRE

Allegiance Staffing is currently seeking a Costing Engineer for a fulltime, direct hire position. The Costing Engineer will be responsible for estimating and analyzing the costs associated with production lines and packaging products and warehousing for clients. This includes materials, labor, equipment, and any other expenses that might affect the overall cost of a project. The role involves working closely with the account managers, purchasing and operations teams to ensure accurate costing for bids and projects.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Estimation and Analysis:
1. Develop cost estimates for new and existing products and provide quotations.
2. Collaborate with Account managers, Operations team, vendors, and clients to gather all necessary information for cost estimation and production lead times.
3. Apply Industrial Engineering, time study and standard data in preparations and set-ups.
4. Calculate direct and indirect costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment depreciation, and overheads.
5. Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, capacities, historical performance, downtime, efficiencies, and excess costs.

Project Management:
1. Maintain ERP system for Item masters, BOMs and Routes set-ups.
2. Prepare and submit reports for KPI performance and progress tracking.
3. Monitor changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devising new estimates promptly.

Process Improvement:
1. Recommend cost-saving initiatives by analyzing the efficiency of production methods and equipment performance, identifying areas for improvement.
2. Work with the maintenance and operations teams to implement cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality.
3. Employ practices of Lean and TOC tools and applications.

Market Analysis:
1. Stay updated with market trends related to materials costs, labor costs, and other relevant factors.
2. Analyze competitors’ pricing strategies and market demand to inform pricing decisions.

Qualifications:
1. Degree in Engineering, Operations Mgt, Accounting, or related field.
2. Experience as a Cost Engineer, Product Cost Analyst, or similar role, preferably in the production, contract packaging, or related industry.
3. Understanding of production processes and packaging technologies.
4. Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Applied analytical, negotiation, and project management skills.
6. Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.

3. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements within the packaging industry.

Working Conditions:
1. Office setting with regular visits to production and warehouse areas.
2. May require occasional travel to meet with suppliers, contractors, or clients.

Physical Requirements:
Primarily a desk job, but will require some walking, standing, and lifting of materials.

Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
