Job Description

Velocity is not your typical restoration shop. Our technicians work with all new sheet metal in an air-conditioned environment in a state-of-the-art shop. Instead of working with the same basic vehicles every day like in the collision environment, our team brings hot rod dreams to life. The talent of our employees shows in the high-end work they produce.


   Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understanding the taping/masking process to protect adjacent panels from overspray.
  • Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated.
  • Mixes paint according to specifications.
  • Inspect panels and all body work for defects prior to painting.
  • Removes rust from metal; thoroughly removes grease and dirt from work surface.
  • Paints automotive panels/surfaces using an HVLP Automotive Spray Gun.
  • Inspects painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags and unpainted areas.
  • Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
  • Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials and reports any deviations to management.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
  • Assisting other technicians in the completion of their prepping procedures when needed to keep the line moving and meet deadlines.
  • Fulfill all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to work order.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficiently organized workstation.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


 Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working independently.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work daily.
  • Adhere to all health regulations and utilize all safety equipment.
  • Ability to maintain professional communications with managers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Dependability and work ethic to show up every day on time.
  • Ability to work 7am-5:30 pm Monday-Friday, overtime on evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is required
  • Must have own tools.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years previous automotive painting experience, production setting is a plus


Physical Demands (to include but not limited to)

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and place merchandise and supplies up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to wear required Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, including squatting, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures for long periods of time.
  • Safely operate a motor vehicle.
