Job Summary

The Financial Analyst assists management by planning and conducting moderate to complex financial analysis to improve the operational and financial effectiveness of Atlantic General Hospital and its related entities. Performs moderate to complex statistical, cost and financial analysis of reports, data and prepares subsequent narrative analysis for management. Assists with compliance of state/federal regulations and requirements set forth by agencies such as HSCRC and HCFA. Utilizes knowledge of the hospital’s patient information and other systems.

Tasks

  • Assist with preparation of weekly, monthly and quarterly financial analysis schedules of actual vs. budget variances
  • Prepare detailed annual financial budget and monthly financial forecasts
  • Provide financial analysis support to various areas of the company
  • Submits reports daily, monthly and yearly to appropriate departments
  • Provides monthly and annual data for interpretation
  • Prepares end of month analysis on each physician within health system
  • Provides physician monthly, reports, special project presentations and spreadsheet development for financial performance applications
  • Develops and administers Department policies which are consistent with hospital policies, contribute to quality and efficient patient care, and meet regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Exercises good judgement in the use of hospital resources
  • Actively contributes to group work product as a team member. Demonstrates trust and respect for all members of the team.
  • Presentation of business plans are professional and accurately reflects support for decisions
  • Meets independently with vice presidents and directors to coordinate and gather information in order to complete the proper financial analysis
  • Assists with writing business plans
  • Completes analysis within designated time frame
  • Reports are consistently professional in appearance and easy to understand
  • Understands and obtains necessary data/analysis to meet state/federal reporting requirements within designated deadlines
  • Assists with developing support and tracking historical trending for budget projecting and monitoring
  • Consistently presents professional analysis that rarely contains errors
  • Ensures that business intelligence/market research includes sufficient financial data to support business decision/business plans/grants, etc.
  • Make recommendations to improve business intelligence gathering
  • Create reports that accurately reflect information requested, requiring only minor revisions
  • Understands HSCRC Rate Structure

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required preferably in accounting, finance, or business
