POSITION:   RESTORATIVE JUSTICE COMMUNITY COURT COORDINATOR
LOCATION:  SAUK VILLAGE, ILLINOIS
GRADE:        16
SALARY:      $62,700

JOB SUMMARY AND DUTIES:

The Restorative Justice Community Court is a unique project and the first of its kind in Cook County. The vision of this court rests upon a robust partnership between the community and the criminal justice system in both its design and implementation.  The Coordinator will provide both operational and policy support to the judiciary and community court team members.  The Coordinator will report and provide support to the presiding judge of the Restorative Justice Community Court and work with the Chief Financial Officer of the Office of the Chief Judge.

In collaboration with the Community Court team, the Coordinator will develop policies and procedures informed by restorative justice concepts, evidence-based best practices, participants’ rights and interests, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the court’s daily operations
  •  Strategic planning
  •  Development of policies and procedures
  • Grant and funding development
  • Coordination of interagency and community partnerships
  • Working closely with community stakeholders.
  • Coordinating ongoing education and training for program team members.
  • Managing relationships with community partners, including law enforcement stakeholders, community groups, legal and policy researchers, foundations, and local universities.
  • Managing service provider reporting and contract compliance.
  • Representing the court at meetings of the Cook County Board of Commissioners for contract and budget issues.
  • Coordinating logistics of data collection with the Court team, and track progress.
  • Consulting with problem-solving court staff on securing maximum treatment resources under the Affordable Care Act.  Stay informed about new development and research relating to the ACA, problem-solving courts, and intersecting subject matter.
  • Representing the interests of the Community Court in relevant stakeholder meetings and committees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Juris Doctor and/or Master’s Degree relating to law, public policy, and/or criminal and restorative justice, or a comparable field of study;
  • Training and experience in the area of restorative justice. 
  •  At least three years of direct experience in project management, preferably in the criminal justice or restorative justice field. 
  • Appreciation for the mission and purposes of the Circuit Court of Cook County and the Restorative Justice Community Court and residency within the community served
  • Desire to make a difference in the community and in people’s lives
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to help others
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, online collaborative tools, and overall computer skills/technical aptitude.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to balance competing priorities
  • Effective written and oral communication skills and problem-solving and critical thinking ability
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse professionals and all levels of staff and provide excellent customer service/support
