Purpose:

The Senior Corporate Accountant will perform a variety of accounting and reporting functions for Zeon Chemicals L.P., related to the following areas: general ledger, financial statements, intercompany reporting, payroll and timekeeping accounting, audit and tax client assistance coordination; and compliance requirements including, but not limited to, corporate insurance and risk assessments and monitoring; and other general duties as assigned.

Job Functions/Accountabilities:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger accounting responsibilities on a timely and accurate basis.
  • Prepare and post and/or review and approve all assigned journal entries; and complete and/or review assigned account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and/or review financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Perform various general ledger account maintenance and reporting structures within accounting systems.
  • Perform preliminary review of quarterly report package to ZC.
  • Complete and submit monthly report package to ZC and other requests.
  • Complete and/or review designated government forms.
  • Prepare and coordinate client assistance for financial audits, quarterly reviews and JSOX testing.
  • Prepare quarterly ratio analyses and various data requests for external auditors.
  • Prepare and coordinate client assistance for income tax provision and tax returns, R&D tax credit coordination, etc.
  • Review and approve payroll and timekeeping processing to ensure timely and accurate payment of all payrolls, including 401k funding, plus ups, payroll tax compliance and any adjustments.
  • Review and approve certain employee master data information in the payroll and timekeeping system.
  • Review and approve payroll disbursement requests as applicable, payroll journal entries and account reconciliations, and other periodic reporting requirements as needed.
  • Assist with JSOX annual review and other compliance requirements, including SAP configurable controls testing and annual control matrix updates.
  • Assist with fraud risk assessment and monitoring.
  • Perform and/or review periodic SOD analysis and monitoring.
  • Coordinate corporate insurance program with broker.
  • Coordinate the completion of the Benefit Plan Audited Financial Statements, including review of audited statements for Form 5500 filing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with all JSOX key financial controls.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvements, ensuring that customers' (both internal and external) needs are met.
  • Adhere to the quality system.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

Education and Certifications:

  • Associate Degree in Accounting or Business required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business preferred
  • Equivalent experience will be considered

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (7) years’ experience in an accounting function is required.
  • Experience in preparing financial statements is required.
  • Experience with intercompany accounting is a plus.
  • Experience in payroll and related compliance is preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.

Special Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and written, with internal customers, peers, and management.
  • Ability to meet deadlines is critical.
  • Problem solving, analytical thinking, and documentation knowledge.
  • Understanding of overall accounting rules and theory a must.
  • Experience in data analysis, including designing and developing business analytics reports and dashboards, is a plus.
