Spirit of America is the only nonprofit organization that works alongside the US troops, diplomats, and local allies to bring American goodwill, humanitarian assistance, and other aid to where it’s needed most in the world.

Spirit of America seeks an entrepreneurial regional program manager to design and implement programs that support Taiwan’s resilience and crisis preparedness and strengthen US-Taiwan relationships. We are looking for a strategic thinker and hands-on doer with a track record of success operating in dynamic, complex environments. 

The Regional Program Manager will work in close cooperation and coordination with US and Taiwan diplomatic, military, and civil society officials to support shared objectives in Taiwan. They will provide targeted private assistance and solutions to complex problems. 

The Regional Program Manager will be based in Taiwan or the United States and must be able to support Spirit of America operations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Execute a “whole of nation approach” country strategy to:
    • Build and integrate a civil society network to support emergency response professionals at the local and national level
    • Increase national resiliency via bilateral cooperation and information-focused initiatives
  • Develop projects and initiatives in response to local needs identified by all levels of US Government partners in support of US objectives. 
  • Manage projects end to end, including logistics, record keeping, payments, negotiating, and budgeting in accordance with standard industry practices.
  • Partner directly Taiwanese NGOs, government agencies, and private companies to develop a diverse range of programming.
  • Coordinate directly with a local marketing firm in executing a strategic communications plan to amplify Spirit of America-supported projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
  • Taiwan-Based: The ability to obtain residency in Taiwan, travel internationally up to 25% of time, and work outside normal business hours

  Non-Taiwan Based: the ability to obtain a visa or visa-exempt status, travel internationally up to 50% of time, and work outside normal business hours.

  • 5-10 years of experience working in Taiwan with deep knowledge of Taiwan’s culture, government, military, and civil society.
  • Minimum of 5 years managing programs/projects for small- to medium-scale projects ($25,000 to $1,000,000).
  • Experience working in humanitarian assistance and disaster/crisis response in government, civil society, or the military.
  • Experience working in, or with, the US State Department or US military. 
  • Mandarin proficiency preferred.
