SUMMARY: It is the responsibility of the Slot Shift Supervisor to oversee slot operations on the casino floor during assigned shift. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Iowa Gaming Operation’s policies and procedures, Internal Standard Operating Procedures and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Assume responsibility and accountability for the overall function and performance of assigned shift.
  2. Provide service to ensure that machines are kept in good working order, making minor repairs, processing machine jackpots and related duties.
  3. Train all new employees to the assigned shift to ensure that these employees receive the proper knowledge to perform their duties at an acceptable level.
  4. Implement departmental and company procedure including all policies and procedures regarding the security of monies, parts, equipment, and record keeping including required attendance documentation.
  5. Ensure proper staffing levels in order to provide adequate floor coverage and a high level of customer and machine service with minimum labor hours.
  6. Delegate assignments to ensure that all functions of the shift are carried out in a timely and efficient manner. Track assigned tasks to ensure their proper completion.
  7. Ensure all slot operations staff are familiar with, and accurately completing all necessary shift paperwork in order to ensure accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports.
  8. Perform payroll duties including submitting timecards/sheets in a timely manner, and maintaining accurate and up-to-date attendance records and personnel files for each of employees.
  9. Evaluate shift employees to ensure the maintenance of an acceptable performance level.
  10. Assist with recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, coaching and discipline, and other personnel related issues.
  11. Communicate regularly with employees and keep them informed of all casino activities and events.
  12. Settle customers’ disputes that cannot be readily resolved by subordinates.
  13. Ensure proper department uniform, appearance and grooming standards are followed.
  14. Attend all company required training.
  15. Comply with all Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission Rules and Regulations and any other local, state, or federal guidelines.
  16. Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
  17. Adhere to all safety guidelines.
  18. Meet company attendance requirements.
  19. May be required to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise Slot Supervisors, Lead Slot Attendants, and Slot Attendants.
  • Responsible for, but not limited to: scheduling and keeping timely records of employees work time and attendance and submitting it to payroll; training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; documenting employee issues; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • May be required to act as the Manager on Duty for the property.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED Certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of slot operations experience and at least two years personnel supervisory experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to work the gaming floor.
  • Game performance experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Must be able to effectively communicate in English. Must be able to communicate with managers, other employees and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS - Must have Microsoft Office experience and basic computer skills.
