Job Description

Job Description: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team and provide high-quality care to our patients. As a COTA, you will work closely with our licensed Occupational Therapists (OT) to develop and implement customized treatment plans, aimed at improving patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities:
1. Conduct patient assessments: Collaborate with the OT to evaluate patients' functional abilities, limitations, and goals to develop appropriate treatment plans.
2. Implement treatment plans: Administer therapeutic interventions as directed by the OT to enhance patients' motor skills, physical strength, coordination, and independence in daily activities.
3. Assist with therapeutic activities: Lead and support patients in exercises, therapeutic activities, and adaptive equipment usage to improve functional capacity and enhance independent living.
4. Patient documentation: Maintain accurate records of patients' progress, treatment, and response to interventions, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
5. Patient education: Educate patients and their families on appropriate techniques, exercises, and activities to support their recovery and maximize their physical and cognitive potential.
6. Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and speech therapists, to provide comprehensive patient care and ensure treatment plans align with patients' overall medical needs.
7. Maintain equipment and supplies: Help maintain an organized and safe treatment environment, ensuring availability and functionality of therapy equipment and supplies.
8. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements: Attend conferences, workshops, and continuing education courses to deepen your knowledge and stay informed about the latest developments in occupational therapy.

Qualifications:
1. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) licensure.
2. Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
3. BLS/CPR certification.
4. Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
5. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
6. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for improving patients' lives through occupational therapy.
7. Attention to detail and ability to accurately document patient progress.
8. Physical stamina and dexterity for assisting patients with mobility and transfers.
9. Knowledge of relevant regulations, such as HIPAA, and ability to adhere to them to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
