What You Will Do:

Sigma Science is currently looking for an Engineer II at the Mission Support and Test Services site located in Las Vegas, NV. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires a candidate who can work independently and collaboratively, thrives on exceeding expectations, is highly organized, and is adept in working on multiple projects/initiatives simultaneously.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform USQ Reviews.
  • Assist with interfacing with project engineers and project management coordination with and support in the USQ Process.
  • Assist with reviewing facility, site characteristics, design of the structure, systems, and components, engineered safety features, instrumentations and control systems, electrical power systems, auxiliary systems, radiation protection program and waste management, conduct of operations, accident analysis, derivation of technical specifications, and operational readiness reviews from a USQ perspective.
  • Produce written reports, analyses, and other deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with a program team, management, stakeholders, and clients
  • Responsible for assigned activities within the USQ discipline in support of facility design, operation and maintenance.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Utilizes engineering technology to accomplish work.
  • Prior experience facilitating USQ Reviews.
  • Proven understanding of technical scope development and understanding of USQ document deliverables.
  • This position is eligible for hybrid work - 80% of work can be completed remotely, with 20% travel to the worksite

What You Need (Minimum Requirements)

  • Proven understanding of technical scope development and of common engineering design document deliverables.
  • Experienced in providing expert advice regarding Health physics / Radiation protection/ Nuclear Engineering as it applies to the USQ Process
  • Bachelors Degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years experience of relevant Radiological experience
  • Candidates considered for hire, after receiving an offer, must pass a federal background and federal drug test before beginning their work assignment. Refusal to submit to drug testing or not passing the drug test will result in disqualification of further employment consideration.
  • All staff under this assignment shall currently possess or have the ability to obtain a DOE/NNSA "Q" clearance
