Family Support & Outreach Coordinator

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Family Support and Outreach Coordinator coordinates family engagement activities with the Directors and staff at all Rosa Valdez Early Learning Centers and Lab School locations through CFM’s Family Matters! programing and coordinates the recruitment of new students for enrollment and coordinates the recruitment of Early Childhood Lab School interns to support CFM’s Cradle to Career intuitive. In addition, works with staff to successfully mentor lab school students and parents for successful school readiness outcomes.

PRINCIPAL CRITERIA and STANDARDS FOR PERFORMANCE:

• Serves as liaison between Children’s Services, parents and community partners and professionals.
• Maintains a network of community contacts and represents CFM and Children’s Services at community activities to promote the Rosa Valdez Centers and the Lab School program.
• Recruits enrollment of children into the program to maintain full enrollment.
• Provides information on available services to referral partners and assists in determining needs and eligibility,
• Works with the Director of Children’s Services in the coordination of all Family Matters! Events at both locations as outlined in the annual Family Matters! event schedule.
• Maintains photo releases and encourages family engagement on Social Media, GroupMe, and Parent Portal on CFM’s web-site.
• Works with Early Childhood Education teachers in public and private high schools to place students in the Rosa Valdez Lab School program to earn their 480 practicum hours required to earn their CDA credential and/or enrollment in the TEACH college scholarship program.
• Provides teacher/mentor training, and feedback to high school teachers to support the successful completion of Lab School student success.
• Is aware of children who are BG1, out sick, have BIRs or other indicators that the child and/or family may need additional support and works with these families and staff to encourage successful interventions and support.
• Works with the Director of Children’s Services and Directors to produce and distribute a monthly Newsletter, creates fliers, makes phone calls/texts, and posts event information as needed to result in a high level of parent engagement.
• Maintains the parent portal on the web-site with current information.
• Provides connections with other social service organizations as needed for families in crisis.
• Works with Director of Children’s Services to coordinate outside groups to provide services to children and families and promotes these services and activities to families (examples: dental, hearing and vision outreach, school pictures, etc)
• Attends training and conferences to enhance work skills as required.
• Performs additional duties as requested.
• Works a 40 hour work week that may from time to time be adjusted to include evening and weekend events related to the above activities.

KNOWLEDGE and SPECIAL SKILLS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• AA or Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
• 2-3 years experience in social services or early childhood programs working with youth and families with young children
• 45 hour Licensing required training.
• Experience teaching in an accredited Early Learning center.
