General Summary:

The Database Developer 2 develops and maintains the data warehouse and databases across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability, integrity and security. This role demonstrates a strong level of database design, programming skills and data mining capabilities; evaluates and advises on all technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and applications; works individually and with project teams to research and evaluate third-party tools for internal operational support.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for data warehouse and database design, development, quality, security, and maintenance;
• Works with Data Engineers to create and/or maintain data models and data definitions;
• Designs and creates SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views;
• Ensures data integrity through data extraction, conversion, processing, storage, middleware automation, and other data manipulation processes, etc.;
• Develops solutions within SQL environments that support internal business applications and necessary Business Intelligence (BI) reports;
• Designs, develops and maintains ETL processes related to importing and exporting data from source systems, transforming/cleansing/enhancing data, and providing data to designated systems;
• Designs, implements, and maintains data pipelines for data ingestion, processing, and transformation in Azure;
• Performs administrative maintenance of relational databases including backup/recovery, scheduling jobs, problem diagnosis and performance tuning;
• Develops online end user BI reports and dashboards using SQL reporting services and other relevant reporting tools;
• Develops data warehouse solutions including Analysis Cubes using Microsoft SQL Server;
• Develops and executes data mining analysis;
• Creates and maintains documentation regarding structure, process and design of all implemented solutions;
• Implements ADO.Net SQL Client objects like Command, Data Adapter, Dataset, and Data Reader for database connection and executed database queries to interact with SQL Server database;
• Develops and maintains database and end user reports, metrics, etc.; ability to provide data analysis, etc.;
• Helps manage application access; assigns and periodically audits permissions; ensures the application permissions fit user roles;
• Travels to customer sites, project areas, business related events, and other Ritter Communications locations as required;
• Frequently and effectively communicates information and responds to questions from groups of managers and co-workers;
• Works with other teams to gather and document requirements;
• Adheres to secure design, coding and implementation practices;
• Performs other duties as required by the Application & Support Development Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Demonstrated knowledge of secure database design, development methods, and techniques;
• Demonstrated knowledge with middleware/middle tier integration;
• Knowledge in data storage solutions including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, and Azure Blob Storage;
• In-depth knowledge of C#, PowerShell, Python, XML, JSON, HTML, PHP, JavaScript, ASP/ASP.NET, AJAX, SOAP, and REST standard concepts, practices, and procedures, with excellent code documentation/commenting.
• Knowledge of API utilization for data extraction/procurement;
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Skill in problem solving and resolution;
• Skill in oral and written communication;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products, such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Visio;
• Ability to create SQL reports;
• Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner;
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;
• Ability to travel for business requirements; must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline required. In-depth knowledge of database architecture with a minimum 3 - 5 years of experience with SQL environments, Azure Data Factory, JavaScript, Visual Basic/Visual Basic.NET, and 3 - 5 years of experience with C++ or C# required. 1 - 3 years of experience with Business Intelligence reporting tools such as Power BI also required. Salesforce Administrator certification preferred. 2 years of experience with Salesforce required and 1 - 2 years of experience with Salesforce CPQ preferred.
