Job Description
Salary: Base Pay Range: $60 - $75k

Local CPA firm currently has an opening for a bookkeeping and payroll manager that has experience with managing multiple employees in accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, sales tax returns, payroll, and payroll tax returns. 

 

The primary responsibilities include managing the processing of payroll and tax payments on behalf of multiple clients, managing and updating payroll changes, terminations, benefit withholdings and garnishments.  Detecting and reconciling issues related to payroll and payroll tax payments.  Managing and filing of quarterly payroll tax returns.  Entering and maintaining accounting data in QuickBooks for various clients. Account reconciliations in QuickBooks, entering journal entries, sales tax filings, and generating 1099s/W-2s.

 

Qualified candidates must have:

  • At least 5+ years’ experience in processing payroll
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification or Certified Payroll Profession preferred
  • Understanding of current regulations, taxation of wages, deductions and more
  • Demonstrated experience in filing quarterly payroll tax returns
  • 5+ years experience with accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online experience required)
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping, AP, AR, account reconciliations, journal entries and financial statements is imperative
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and year-end close
  • Self-motivated and the ability to multitask and manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to identify strengths of employees and delegate work accordingly
  • Manage priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and systems quickly
  • Previous CPA firm experience preferred
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Position requires candidate to prepare and provide detailed information on payroll and financial results.
  • Excellent skills in dealing with fast pace, changing, and challenging situations.
  • Strong ability for recognizing better and innovative ways to accomplish objectives.
  • Proven success in influencing behavior without direct authority.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information and must be able to act independently in a professional manner.
  • Advanced PC skills: ie: databases, spreadsheets, accounting software/systems,
  • Superior analytical, organizational and attention to detail skills. Must be able to juggle multiple priorities and acts independently to ensure quality work is completed timely.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
