The Department of Sciences and Mathematics at Simpson University invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor in Biology beginning August 15, 2024. The successful candidate should be prepared to teach upper-division courses in cellular/molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry, as well as introductory biology courses in the general education curriculum. A commitment to faith integration into teaching, scholarship, and service at a Christian liberal arts institution is an essential quality of Simpson University faculty.

Qualifications:????????

• Ph.D. in biology or a related field, with an emphasis in cellular/molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and/or biochemistry.
• Demonstrated ability to teach both lecture and laboratory coursework.
• Evidence of teaching excellence utilizing a variety of teaching modalities—in-person, remote, and hybrid.
• Experience working with a diverse student population.
• Promising research agenda that supports undergraduate education is desirable.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach 12 units of undergraduate courses each fall and spring semester.
• Prepare and teach undergraduate lecture and lab biology courses including, but not limited to introduction to biology, cellular/molecular biology, genetics, and biochemistry.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students in the biology major.
• Provide department support for curriculum design, assessment for degree program, and student recruitment.
• Serve on faculty committees.
• Attend department meetings and professional development activities:
• Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.

Simpson University's faculty salaries are based on three distinct factors: (1) Academic Degree; (2) Academic Rank (i.e. Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, full Professor); and (3) years of full-time college teaching experience. Accordingly, the current salary range is $64,480 - $76,000.
