Summary:

Responsible for procuring & pricing material, developing and managing multiple suppliers, negotiating pricing, and maintaining supply contracts for electrical construction products. This includes tracking material orders, understanding who to price/procure them from, how to store and delivery these materials, and track and maintain job costing purchase orders. Will have intimate electrical construction experience and trade knowledge. This position works closely with Warehouse and Tool/Equipment manager to properly allocate scarce resources across multiple lines of business and construction sites. This position should possess the following mindset: "the right material, at the right time, at the right price". A continuous improvement mentality is a must! We are a growing company and constantly evolving.

Responsibilities:

  • Remain in constant contact with department heads, finance/accounting, project managers, and field foreman installers regarding material procurement
  • Balance multiple material orders at a time while maintaining relationships with multiple vendors to ensure our field techs and installers have the right material when they need it
  • Enable real-time accounting reconciliation to ensure all purchase orders are correctly allocated and approved in job costing system
  • Check material in and out of warehouse and supplier warehouses to ensure we have safety stock and service material on hand. Involves focused coordination with the Warehouse Manager and delivery drivers
  • Process returns on time and efficiently to ensure warehouse and job sites are free of unneeded material
  • Use vast electrical trade knowledge to provide the most efficient parts possible for complex electrical systems in Residential, Commercial Service and Commercial Construction jobs. Includes light industrial
  • Recommend and select suppliers considering quality, delivery, price, availability and supply chain diversity
  • Expedite and schedule materials based on urgency and competing priorities
  • Keep abreast of market conditions, particularly trends material availability and price, as well as quality of assigned commodities
  • Utilizing the lowest cost transportation of purchased goods
  • Negotiate/initiate new bulk orders and changes to existing bulk orders
  • Maintain Purchasing Department files as required
  • Develop and promote Standard Operating Procedures to create scalability and consistency
  • Review assigned incoming requisitions and determines best buying methods. Initiate aggressive purchasing action required to secure assigned items and commodities. Maintain records, reports, and files for proper control of assigned purchasing activities. Consult with project managers on problems requiring major consideration
  • Direct the picking and pulling of parts for delivery/storage/returns
  • Other duties as assigned by management


Education Level:
  • High School Diploma or GED


Experience Desired:
  • 5-7 years of electrical construction knowledge or similar
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and perform various tasks with changing priority while maintaining relationships
  • 3+ years warehousing experience is a plus
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • The ability to collaborate with multiple personality types to promote cohesion
  • Past experience with ERP, PO or ComputerEase software is a plus but can be trained


Skills Required:
  • Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other O365 Suite applications - MS Teams is a must
  • Excellent communication, customer (employee) service, and organizational skills
  • Sense of accuracy and urgency
  • Ability to adapt to conflicting demands
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a relatively stationary position
  • Ability to perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds

  • Strong electrical construction vocabulary and knowledge base including other trades
