Please Note: Part-time 20-24 hours per week
Remote with ability to travel to sites as needed.
Work Hours: Flexible between 8am-5pm, M-F To be scheduled between the contractor and supervisor.
Additional Credentials: RI Pharmacist License
Most tasks performed remotely but candidate should be RI-based. Experience w/ RI Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) required, and the ability to conduct outreach visits to PDMP end-users if needed.
Responsibilities
The chosen candidate will be responsible for the following along with any related tasks that might arise during their employment:
Provide pharmacological consultation on oversight and administration for developing, establishing, and implementing policies, procedures and for the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
Serve as a subject matter expert in pharmacology, opioid prescribing, prescription drug monitoring, addiction, and diversion.
Interpret data from the PDMP and lead data quality improvement activities.
Facilitate and communicate with PDMP end users to address concerns and issues
Collect feedback to inform quality improvement of the system.
Foster relationships with other state PDMPs, other state agencies, especially Medicaid, and the community by engaging, collaborating, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders about regulations, policy, and opportunities relevant to the PDMP.
Participate in discussions with external partners (DEA, NASCSA, Governor's Overdose Task Force and relevant working groups)
Consult on the process for the existing PDMP to become Certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Develop and provide necessary communications to the prescribing and dispensing communities relative to PDMP updates and other relevant information in collaboration with the Chief Administrative Officer of the Pharmacy Board and other PDMP program staff.
Reviews and provides input on annual and quarterly grant progress reports and contributes to the PDMP annual legislative report, and other grant opportunities.
Attend national forums related to PDMP development and interoperability.
Participate in discussions of enhancements to the existing PDMP
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the use clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical biological and physical properties
Expert knowledge of drugs, their mechanisms of action and place in therapy
Candidate must possess prior experience using the Rhode Island Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
Knowledge of regulations, policies, and laws related to the PDMP is preferred
Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and public speaking
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with internal and external partners.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office products
Knowledge and experience in quality improvement application
Education and Experience:
Must possess and maintain a current license from the State Board of Pharmacy and Experience with Rhode Island Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
Such as may have been gained through possession of a degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy; and
Experience gained through considerable employment in a responsible
administrative position involving the direction of a staff engaged in providing pharmacy services and the administration of a program with the responsibility to purchasing and inventory control of a large pharmaceutical inventory.
Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience
Strong retail pharmacy experience.
