Job Description:
This is a permanent, full-time benefitted position requiring some overnight shifts in the hospital. The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role in providing direct patient care to a group of normal-to-high risk infants. The position involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures, managing neonatal caseload with physician collaboration, and serving as a patient and family advocate.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interpret antenatal/perinatal health history and assess gestational age.
- Perform resuscitation of newborns in delivery rooms and neonatal units.
- Conduct physical exams and evaluations on infants in Delivery, Neonatal, and Mother-Baby Units.
- Perform specialized procedures on high-risk infants, including catheterization, intubation, and lumbar puncture.
- Order/interpret lab tests, radiographs, and routine diagnostics.
- Prescribe therapies and nutrition, make rounds on designated patients, and collaborate with attending MD.
- Develop, implement, review, and revise standards/procedures/protocols for Neonatal Care.
- Stay current with standards/issues/implications for advanced practice nursing.
- Provide educational programs for staff, serve as a clinical resource, and participate in Quality Management Programs.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in neonatal care.
- Master's degree in nursing.
- Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum one (1) year of Nurse Practitioner experience in an acute care setting.
- Valid Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority for Hawaii State APRN prescriptive authority.
Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a neonatal care nurse practitioner.
- Ability to work overnight shifts at the Medical Center.
- Salary exempt NP position, Full Time, and fully benefitted.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experienced NNP living locally on the Island or willing to relocate to Honolulu.
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts.
Additional Compensation: $10K Sign-On Bonus.
