Minimum Requirements:

- Have a minimum of a bachelor's degree.
- PRAXIS 5901 series (as outlined below) AND PRAXIS 5205
Experience:
- Prior teaching experience preferred but not required.
- Passing scores on the Elementary Education Praxis exam preferred.
- The Vanguard School will reimburse you for the Praxis exam if taken after hire date.
Job Product: Student understanding of science and math that furthers the development of character and intellect. Teaching students as assistant groups teacher with the emphasis on mathematics subject.
General Purpose: The Upper Elementary Math and Science teacher is responsible for developing students’ academic excellence and virtue by creating a positive culture of inquiry and learning and providing students with challenging and meaningful learning activities and experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Subject matter knowledge
- Science: Advanced principles and concepts of biology, physical science, earth science, and astronomy appropriate to the elementary school curriculum; principles and procedures of scientific inquiry; history of major scientific and technological discoveries or inventions; laboratory techniques, safety issues related to science labs and investigations
- Mathematics: Advanced principles and concepts related to elementary school mathematics in the areas of number sense and numeration, patterns and functions, geometry and measurement, and data analysis
- Plans curriculum and instruction
- Delivers effective instruction
- Manages classroom climate and operation
- Promotes achievement
- Meets professional responsibilities
Teacher Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model and support students in developing virtuous character.
- Support the school's mission through fidelity to policies and practices.
- Teach assigned math groups.
- Deliver effective instruction that promotes achievement.
- Create a positive culture of inquiry and learning.
Educational Requirements:
- Four-year degree
- Passing scores on one (1) of the following test combinations preferred: *
PRAXIS 5901 series (as outlined below) AND PRAXIS 5205
- Mathematics 5903
