Construction and Mechanical Estimator

Kalos Services is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Construction and Mechanical Special Projects Estimators to join our in-house team. The ideal candidates will possess expertise in higher-level construction projects and mechanical systems, with a focus on accurately bidding and preparing handoffs/takeoffs for work that may not be clearly engineered. Successful candidates will demonstrate a deep understanding of on-site conditions and have the ability to seamlessly integrate these factors into the estimation process.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough assessments of project requirements, including reviewing blueprints, specifications, and other relevant documents.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project objectives and constraints.
• Utilize knowledge of construction and mechanical systems to develop accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Prepare detailed takeoffs and handoffs for various project components, considering factors such as site conditions, material availability, and project timelines.
• Analyze subcontractor bids and negotiate pricing to ensure competitive advantage and adherence to project budget.
• Continuously evaluate and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions and industry trends.
• Provide support to project teams during the bidding process, including attending pre-bid meetings and site visits.
• Collaborate with procurement teams to facilitate material buyouts and ensure timely delivery of required materials.
• Assist in the development of project proposals and presentations for potential clients.
• Actively participate in post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement and refine estimating processes.

• Proven experience as a construction estimator, with a focus on higher-level construction projects and mechanical systems.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency in construction estimating software and Google Suite.
• Familiarity with industry-standard cost databases and resources.
• Adaptability to changing project requirements and willingness to learn new skills as needed.
• Previous experience with mechanical systems estimating and/or HVAC projects.
• Knowledge of building information modeling (BIM) software and related technologies.
• Familiarity with project management principles and methodologies.
