SARA is looking for a remarkably talented, motivated, and experienced Human Resources Generalist to support the company-wide activities out of our Colorado Springs, CO location. The candidate will have the opportunity to grow and learn, championing our talented engineers, physicists, and technicians on long-standing programs and new programs supporting our customers.

The Human Resources Generalist position administers various HR programs for all levels of employees such as affirmative action, benefits administration, and personnel record maintenance. This mid-level position is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with experienced HR practitioners and HR management to carry out responsibilities in the following functional areas: new hire onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, training, performance management, policy implementation, affirmative action, and employment law compliance.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Track and process new hires, terminations, and multiple employee actions and changes
  • Administer the New Hire Onboarding program and orientation
  • Administer benefit plan enrollments, terminations, and changes for health, disability, retirement, and life insurance plans
  • Point of contact for the third-party leave of absence facilitator; respond to information requests for disability and leave of absences
  • Prepare and organize data for the Affirmative Action Compliance programs
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
  • Responsible for data input and recordkeeping for HR programs and projects
  • Participate and/or assist with HR ad-hoc projects
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are compliant
  • Assist with employee mailings, vendor billings, coordinating data collection, etc. for the benefits program
  • Assist with general corporate administrative duties as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of Human Resource experience preferably in a generalist or similar role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Federal and state(s) employment laws: FMLA, COFAMLI, CFRA, ADA, ACA, Section 125, Medicare, COBRA, health and ancillary insurance benefits, and Affirmative Action Compliance
  • Engage with the employee wellness and fun committee, ensuring that the committee’s work aligns with the overall strategic direction of the plan
  • Assist with I-9 compliance deadlines, audits and workflow buildouts
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to determine and manage priorities
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • US Citizenship

Work Conditions:

  • May require light physical effort, involving standing, sitting and use of hands while performing duties, carrying or lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Working environment is indoor, moderately quiet, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated, some physical hazards may exist

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and/or business-related studies or an equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP or ability to obtain an HR Certification
  • Previous experience at a Department of Defense contractor or a role in a similar industry
  • Previous experience with ADP (HRIS/ATS), CostPoint (ERP), and Unanet (Timekeeping) a plus
  • Previous experience within an ESOP company a plus

Pay Range: $58,000 – $76,960 (DOE)
