E-Bike Mountain Guide

E-Bike Mountain Guides are adventurous candidates who thrive in providing an adventure of a lifetime. E- Bike Mountain Guides are expected to provide exceptional guest service while guiding our guests around the lower mountain trails at Alyeska Resort and local Bird to Gird Trail. Knowledge of Girdwood & Alyeska Resort's trails is pertinent to help lead groups with a wide skill set and age range. Safety is the number one priority when providing memorable and transformational experiences around the mountain.


Responsibilities

  • Assist with equipment maintenance, rentals and sales, and trail maintenance.
  • Guiding requires the use of considerable judgment to adapt methods and procedures to changing situations and environments.
  • Be knowledgeable about local geography, history, able to learn fun facts and stats about flora and fauna to share with guests.
  • Attend ongoing training to keep up to date with contemporary concepts and progressions, striving to better our teaching and guiding techniques.
  • Must work well in a team environment.
  • Able to work successfully with a variety of audiences, public, parents, children and peers.
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated good judgment, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment as well as independently.


Qualifications

  • Able to independently lead group E-Bike Mountain rides/tours and supervise the safety of our guests and self.
  • Able to work in potentially extreme weather conditions and manage rocky, rough, and uneven trails while exerting considerable physical effort.
  • Knowledge and experience in bike maintenance for trailside repairs
  • All E-Bike Mountain Guides must have their own mountain bike, helmet, and pads.
  • Previous downhill and cross-country mountain biking experience a

  • Able to maintain a flexible schedule, sometimes working long and irregular hours, including all weekends.
  • Arrive at work on time, with equipment ready, uniform clean and tidy, presenting a professional appearance
  • Work as a team with colleagues and other mountain departments so that all may benefit from working in an environment of good will and mutual respect
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the MLC Director or Supervisors, as well as other Mountain Managers.

  • Physical demands: guides must be physically able to safely navigate trail areas in all weather and trail conditions. You will be required to bike and talk for extended periods of time. Lifting heavy objects (no more than 50 pounds), bending, twisting and shoveling may be required. You will be required to stand, bike, and walk safely on uneven terrain. Employee may be required to pass a functional capacity test developed for this job.
  • Work Environment: the noise in this work environment is usually moderate. Physical terrain in the work environment can be uneven with poor traction; there is mud, rock, and gravel outside and wet floors indoors. Outside temperatures can be cold and wet.
