SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Community Impact Program Specialist will be responsible for driving the Y on the Fly vans to various locations,

engaging community members & businesses for program support through philanthropic giving, and conducting program

delivery with groups of children and members of the community. This critical position will be charged to partner & assist

the Director of Community Impact to advance program growth through fundraising and strategic community

partnerships that align with the mission and core values of the YMCA


PURPOSE OF POSITION:


This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth

development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the general direction of the Director of Community Impact,

the Community Impact Program Specialist will drive the Y on the Fly vans to various locations and conduct program

delivery with groups of children and members of the general public. This will include the set-up and take down of

program supplies including tables and other bulky/heavy items in locations including but not limited to public parks,

schools, churches, and public facilities. The Community Impact Program Specialist will assist with the implementation

and ongoing success of monthly giving and event sponsorships under the general direction of the Director of

Community Impact. The Program Specialist will also be responsible for inventory management of program supplies and

equipment including the vans themselves and all items used to deliver programming.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs general Y on the Fly program operations, engaging directly with groups of children and leading enrichment and physical activities.
  • Instructs and provides guidance to volunteers and other YMCA staff members supporting Y on the Fly program operation.
  • Assist in the development of weekly, monthly, and annual Y on the Fly event schedules in partnership with his/her supervisor.
  • Follows all safe driver guidelines and standards, operating in compliance with state and local regulations.
  • Completes regular quality control & daily safety inspections of Y on the Fly vans and fleet vehicles, maintaining vehicle inspection logs and all required documentation.
  • Maintains orderliness in the program spaces, both inside and outside of Y on the Fly vans and fleet vehicles, ensuring supplies are available, organized, and ready for use at all times.
  • Reports to the Community Impact Director of any conditions on the Y on the Fly vans which need attention.
  • Assist with the implementation of Monthly Giving to support Y on the Fly.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Y on the Fly Event Sponsorship initiative.
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities, Annual Campaign, and special events as needed.
  • Administrative support for all general Y on the Fly program operations, working directly with the supervisor and team to improve all administrative functions of the department & Y on the Fly program.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor to meet the changing needs of the Y on the Fly program.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age to operate equipment and fleet vehicles.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass an MVR check.
  • Must be able to pass a DHS background check.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required (within 30 days of hire).
  • Must be reliable, punctual, adaptable, and responsible.
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently as most shifts will occur without the direct supervision of the Program Director
  • Previous experience working with school aged children (preferred).


WORK SCHEDULE:

The schedule for this full-time hourly position is generally Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, though overtime,

evenings, and weekend work may be required depending on the business need.


Please note: Must be able to work full time hours with varying shift times to include late afternoons and evenings as

well as Saturdays and Sundays on a regular basis.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to frequently lift 50+ pounds.
  • Frequent climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift, twist, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor elements and extreme temperatures.
  • Exposure to electrical/mechanical mechanisms.
  • Exposure to chemical elements including cleaning supplies and automotive solutions.
