Position overview

Our Banking Support Specialists provide exceptional service to our internal, external, and prospective clients by performing a variety of servicing transactions for our Banking Offices and Operations Teams. Common office positions that our Banking Support Specialists cover are Banking Representative and Client Banking Specialist. Assistance is often needed across Operations teams and Banking Support Specialists step into various departments such as Credit Support, Deposit Operations, Client Service Center, etc. The Banking Support team has an advanced understanding of a variety of positions in our organization, which is critical to our success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consistently delivers outstanding client service; providing premiere client satisfaction with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
  • Acts as a cultural ambassador to internal and external clients, providing a professional, exceptional, and supportive experience with each interaction.
  • Travel to The Bank of Tampa locations across the region (Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee counties) to provide coverage per business need.
  • Develop rapport with internal and external clients by being proactive and timely with requests, while displaying a caring attitude.
  • Perform account opening, maintain a balancing record, and process routine Teller transactions in line with policy.
  • Initiate conversations to uncover client needs for Bank products and services.
  • Effectively refer clients to the appropriate business partner to meet their financial service’s needs.
  • Utilize problem solving skills to determine and correct cash outages and to enlist assistance, as needed, for more difficult errors.
  • Perform servicing transactions in various departments, sometimes simultaneously.
  • Grow and maintain a well-developed working knowledge of the complete line of products and services offered at the Bank. While staying up to date on products and services, taking responsibility to inform management when additional development is required.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert with respect to policy and procedures, bank operations, cash recycler assistance, bank software & systems, internal audit, etc. and provide guidance to other employees as needed.
  • Works in a team environment, interacting with co-workers and management in a positive manner.
  • Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all client business confidential.
  • Grow and maintain a well-developed working knowledge of Bank policies and procedures and take responsibility to keep up to date on any changes. Responsible for notifying management when additional training/development is needed.
  • Adapt interpersonal style to highly diverse individuals and groups in a range of situations.
  • Anticipate change and adapt plans and priorities accordingly.
  • Communicate equally and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Understand others' complex or underlying needs, motivations, emotions or concerns and communicates effectively despite the sensitivity of the situation.
  • Use a variety of software packages and utilizing a wide range of features or options for a given software package, to produce the desired result.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 year of banking experience OR equivalent cash handling and forward facing client service experience
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Will be required to travel to various office locations across Hillsborough, Pinellas and Manatee counties to cover shifts as needed.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a Teller, Client Banking or Universal Banking position.
  • Experience uncovering client needs and effectively referring customers to business partners.
  • Experience working in support areas, such as Deposit Operations, Loan Operations, or Remittance Processing.
